How do I protect my personal belongings?
Three mechanisms protect your belongings.
- The management inventory: Hostias documents what remains in the property (furniture, equipment, personal items kept on-site), what belongs to the owner and is not for guests, and what may be used - this inventory is kept updated and referenced after each stay
- Sensitive or personal items that should not be accessible to guests are either stored in a locked space or listed explicitly in the house rules and guest briefing
- Any damage or missing item is documented with photos, dated and reported to the owner promptly so the appropriate platform claim or security deposit process can be initiated without delay
Does Hostias check the property between uses?
Yes, and this check is one of the key benefits for a secondary residence.
- Even when unoccupied, the property can suffer silent problems: a small sink leak that becomes major after three months, insufficient ventilation that creates humidity, heating failure in winter that freezes pipes, insect or rodent intrusion, refrigerator failure that creates odors
